Borough and Bankside update – 10/3/24

by VMMChamberlain on 10 March, 2024

Here’s our latest update on local items that may be useful or of interest:

BOROUGH TRIANGLE PUBLIC MEETING 26 MARCH

On 26 March 18:30 – 20:30, we are holding a public meeting at the Queensborough Community Centre on the Borough Triangle development (where Mercato Metropolitano is currently situated).

Berkeley Homes plan to submit a new planning application for the site which will include:

·       c.900 homes (35% affordable housing)

·       Four buildings ranging in height up to to 44 storeys

·       New office, retail and community/leisure space, including a ‘long term sustainable home’ for Mercato Metropolitano.

We have invited representatives from Berkeley Group and Council officers to take residents through the planning proposal. It will be a chance to ask questions, find out more about the development, how neighbouring residents may be affected and how you can have your say.

More details attached.

WARD FORUM ON 18 BLACKFRIARS ROAD

Thanks to everyone who attended our ward forum on the 18 Blackfriars Road development. Please find attached a note of the main points raised in discussions. We are pressing the developers and Council officers on a number of issues, as referenced in the note.

Council officers suggested that the planning application may come to planning committee in April and that they are currently minded to recommend the plans for approval.

If you have views on the proposals and have not yet done so, please add your comments on the planning portal. You can also email planning@southwark.gov.uk quoting reference 23/AP/1854.
