About Me

Victor has been a Liberal Democrat Councillor for 9 years in total – five in Borough and Bankside, LB Southwark and four in Chorlton in the Manchester. Victor is the Leader of the Opposition on Southwark Council. He regularly holds the Labour administration to account on the housing crises, the Climate Emergency and local environment and customer service for local residents. Victor has spent 8 years working in the affordable housing sector. He has previously worked for the Liberal Democrats in Parliament, LDHQ and at ALDC. 2005 – Joined Lib Dems and team that got Cllr John Leech MP elected. I interned for John in Parliament for 3 years as a London student. 2010 – Elected Manchester’s youngest ever councillor. Served as Chair of the City Party. 2012 – Chaired a Manchester City Council OSC and was Shadow Executive Member for Regeneration. As a frontbench councillor I helped set group’s weekly agenda. I know how to hold a Labour Administration to account and make sure the Opposition’s vision is heard and adopted. 2014 – Campaigns and Communications Officer, Association of Liberal Democrat Councillors (ALDC) and Borough Organiser for Bury local party. Worked in Westminster as a Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Support Officer to assist MPs in their parliamentary duties and in understand policy and legislation. 2015 – Stood for Parliament and worked in Policy and Research Unit at LDHQ. 2016 – 2020 Communications Manager for Pocket Living, an affordable housing provider. Helped get permission for thousands of affordable homes across London, working closely with Council Leaders, Cabinet Members and senior officers. I know what more Southwark needs to do to build affordable homes. 2016 – Elected to the Management Committee of ALDC. 2016 – Elected to the Lib Dem Federal Conference Committee (FCC) 2017 – Borough and Bankside Area Captain in General election campaign. 2018 – Elected as Board Member of the Electoral Reform Society 2018 – Elected as Councillor for Borough and Bankside 2020 – Elected as Liberal Democrat Vice Chair of OSC 2020 – Started working for a London council owned housing development company to build thousands of genuinelly affordable homes and deliver sustainable regeneration. I work directly with the Council Leader and Directors on a daily basis. 2022 – Relected as Borough and Bankside ward with an increased share of the vote (58%). Victor is concerned that too often local people are ignored by our decision makers. Victor is a dedicated community campaigner and stands up for all local people.
